Vanja Škrobica holds degrees in political science (journalism) and librarianship, but her passion for visual arts and literature began to take shape during her classical high school education. For years, she wrote articles for cultural sections in newspapers and magazines, following and analyzing artistic phenomena.

Around the year 2000, she began to engage more intensively in painting and writing poetry in the Chakavian dialect. She has published three poetry collections so far and has occasionally dedicated herself to photography. Her passion for photography resulted in two solo exhibitions featuring motifs of Dalmatia and the Mediterranean.

Alongside her visual art, she started sharing her works on social media, where her acquaintances recognized and praised the distinctive use of color in her paintings. In addition to acrylic, she has experimented with charcoal, colored ink, collage, and markers. Color plays a crucial role in her work—it is a medium through which she expresses memories, emotions, and intimate reflections.

Although she has no formal education in painting and considers herself an amateur, she views artistic creation primarily as a personal source of fulfillment. Over the past two years, she has increasingly explored digital techniques, relying on them to further develop her artistic expression.

Her artistic journey is marked by constant exploration and a deep connection to the themes of heritage, nature, and personal experience. Whether through painting, poetry, or photography, she seeks to capture fleeting moments and emotions, translating them into vibrant visual and literary expressions. By blending traditional and digital techniques, she continues to evolve creatively, embracing new forms while staying true to her intuitive and expressive approach to art.
